BOOKS ON BOYDSTUN/BOYDSTONS

Chuck Boydstun has completed a book on his line of Boydstun/ons.   Please contact him at orobass@comcast.net if you are interested in purchasing it in paperback form or on CD.

There were three books on the Boydstun/Boydston Families that Gladys (Boydstun) Domonoske wrote. The first two books are somewhat misleading and in many cases--inaccurate! The Third Edition, published in 1979 is the best because of the extensive research of the National Archives. The book is no longer available, but you can send for a photocopy from the LDS Records in Salt Lake City. Another valuable book is Q. B. Hall's Book (available from LDS), and Courson Weaver's Book (first published work on the Boydstuns).

My experience with the books of Domonoske, Weaver, and Hall has been through the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) in Salt Lake City, Utah. I obtained photocopies of each through a local LDS Family History Center. These centers are located throughout the United States (probably elsewhere).

I was also fortunate to find a copy of Domonoske's 2nd Edition in the possession of a Genealogy friend (he gave it to me, along with some original notes used by Gladys Domonoske).

Another book, entitled "Growing Up With Oklahoma" by Q. B. Boydstun was given to me by John and Alice Boydstun of Woodward, Oklahoma.

Presley Smith sent me another complete copy of Domonoske's 3rd Edition which was copied from the Dallas Public Library.

Ellie Boydstun of Fort Smith, Arkansas showed me another book which was written by a person in Florida and promised tosend me a copy. He also has a Domonoske 3rd Edition in color!

As to where one might obtain "hard copy" editions, I don't know. Probably the only way is for someone to part with one because to my knowledge they are no longer in print.

One can request a microfilm from the main LDS Library in Salt Lake City through a Family History Center. Viewers and copiers are available at the Centers.

Hope this helps,

'The Boydstun-Boydston Family 1980" by Gladys Boydston Domonoske

History of the Cherokee Indians - Old Families and Their Genealogy.  by Emmet Starr, a Cherokee physician, 1892.

Boydston (2 families) are listed on pages 346 and 348 of his book.  There is one rare copy of this book being sold on Ebay right now but it is $250.00.  I am going to see if I can locate his book in our historical library.
